Watch UFC 104 Machida Vs Shogun - It's just 3 days away!

Finally, after what seemed like a long break in mma events we are entering a very busy period with 4 great evens in just 5 weeks! And the first one is UFC104 Machida vs Shogun and it promises to be a great event.

The main event is obviously Machida vs Shogun and it is a very interesting fight, as I mentioned in my previous post, if Machida wins then he will have literally no one else to fight despite the fact that UFC has most of the world's best 205 pounds fighters.

Can Shogun do it? It's a hard question to answer. He rose to fame with his 2005 Pride GP win, and was considered one of if not the top light heavy weight. However after the demise of Pride he came to UFC only to lose to Forrest Griffin (although Shogun had a knee injury) in what was supposed to be an easy win for him (similar to Gonzaga vs CroCop.)

After a surgery (or two?) on his knee, he fought Mark Coleman, although he won he gassed pretty fast in that fight. He then KO'ed Chuck Liddell in the first. Unfortunately neither of this two wins is that impressive. Coleman is just too old at this point, and Liddell has lost 4 of his last 3 fights heading into the fight with Shogun. Still, they are two solid wins combined with Shogun's previous wins have earned him a title shot.

Can he beat Machida though? it's hard to tell, no one seems to even be able to hit him. But Shogun is very fast and has a very aggressive style, yet he also has very high accuracy. Will his aggression be enough to overcome Machida's elusiveness and force him to engage, or will it play right into Machida's style?

UFC 104 is just 8 days away and I can't wait to watch the main event - Machida vs Shogun. And there are plenty of reasons for that, but let's take an in depth look at Lyoto Machida.

Machida - a rare style of mma fighter as he uses karate as his main base. Of course, Machida isn't one of those vintage karate guys who claim that their "eagle punch" is too brutal for mma as their excuse for not competing in it. Lyoto has augmented his karate with good wrestling (sumo based at that I think) as well as having a black belt in bjj.

His style is still based on point karate match ups which makes him perhaps the most unique fighter in maa today. Since the point of karate competition is to score points while not allowing your opponent to score, Machida has an amazing ability to move out of range just when the other guy was about to unload on him, while also being able to move in for a quick punch himself. In fact, Lyoto gets hit less than any other fighter save for Fedor Emelianenko (which could be explained by the fact Fedor's fights have more 'ground" time, well, that and the fact his opponents are busy crapping their pants and are in no position to actually throw a punch)

Machida's "elusiveness" has earned him some dislike from the fans though, as many have claimed that he does nothing but "run away" as well as making a claim that if everyone fought like that then no one would even watch UFC as it'd be boring.

Lyoto however has stepped up his game and appears to be a lot more aggressive now. Beating an undefeated Thiago Silva by KO in the first round as well as Rashad Evans by KO in the second. Which makes him even more dangerous.

personally, I am rather amused by his style, he moves out of range from opponent as they try to chase him, but the moment they stop chasing Lyoto takes a step forward and punches them in the face, then before a fighter can retaliate he steps back and the chase continues. No fighter has been able to solve this rather amusing problem and it appears to both frustrate fighters and make them look completely outclassed.

Sadly, if Machida beats Shogun he will be pretty much done with UFC's light heavy weight division. For all the talks (which are true) about UFC having most of the best light heavy weights Machida will have no challengers if he wins his next fight. Looking at sherdog.com's rankings:

#2 Rampage is done fighting, for now at least
#3 Rashad Evans already lost (and in a rather embarrassing fashion)
#4 Shogun is his next fight
#5 Forest Griffin got literally owned by Anderson Silva, and while Machida and Anderson have different fighting styles, I find it very unlikely Forest would be able to hit Machida at all given the fact he couldn't connect on Silva.
#6 Thiago Silva has already lost by a round 1KO that makes Rashad's loss look good
#7 Gegard Mousasi has been on an absolute tear for a few years now and had recently sent Babalu to hell (judging by Babaul's eyes and facial expression) But due to UFC having most good fighters in 205 pounds division, it's hard for Gegard to "prove" himself against high ranked competition.
#8 Luis Arthur Cane is a good prospect but lacks wins vs higher ranked fighters
#9 Antonio Rogerio Nogueira is a good fighter but it's questionable if he'd fight Machida, since he trains with him (I think, I know Machida, Anderson Silva and big Nog train together)
#10 Rich Franklin has already lost to Machida a few years ago in Japan

Interestingly enough, should Machida beat Shogun, the the most interesting fights for him would actually be outside of 205 division (aside from a fight vs Mousasi) Who wouldn't want to watch Machida fight Anderson Silva (not going to happen since they train together) or vs Fedor Emelianenko (not going to happen since UFC can't sign Fedor, and it's unlikely they make this fight even if they did)

Upcoming MMA Events You'll Want to Watch!

Things have been a little quiet after UFC 103, as far as big events go at least. Although the have been a few small scale shows (Tim Sylvia finally got a win in one of them) Aoki subbed Hansen in Dream 11, and Oveream beat Aerts in K1 kickboxing. But as far as really big mma events it has been rather slow.

But all that is about to change very soon! With 4 big events in just 5 weeks! October 24 is UFC 104 Machida vs Shogun, a fight that will determine the future of UFC's 205 pounds division. If Machida beats Shogun decisively he will likely be the king of that division just like GSP, BJ Penn and Anderson Silva are of theirs.

November 7 is a huge Strikeforce card - Featuring Fedor Emelianenko -on CBS no less! Well, as an MMA fan you can't really get much better than this! The best fighter in the world fighting decent opponent (Bret Rogers - ranked 7th by sherdog.com) as well as a very good card over all featuring Moussassi vs Sokodjou, Jake Shields vs. Jason "Mayhem" Miller and Fabricio Werdum vs. Antonio "Big Foot" Silva. Plus it's on CBS so it's free! Really have to watch this one!

November 14 - UFC 105 Couture vs Vera. A bit low quality, so far at least. And given its timing will likely be one of the least watched UFCs in recent times. With the economy being what it is buying 3 ppv's in 5 weeks probably doesn't sound all that fun to most people. And if you have to choose then UFC 104 and UFC 106 both have better main events and stronger cards. None the less, the main event of this card will determine the future of both fighters. A win by couture coulds et up a title fight with Machida/Shogun winner.

Finally November 21 is UFC 106 Lesnar vs Carwin. The card also features return of Tito Ortiz in a fight against Forrest Griffin. But back to main event - it should be pretty interesting. Both guys are still quite untested. Shane only has 1 good win - against Gonzaga, in which he got rocked himself (although he did get up rather fast after Gonzaga took him down) and Gonzaga isn't exactly such a credible fighter himself seeing how his only win vs top competition is taking Cro Cop's soul.

And for all the talk about how Fedor is afraid of UFC and Brock, Lesnar has a 4-1 record - that's right just 5 fights! Discounting his first fight (agains some can in Japan) and his loss to Mir in the first fight, you only get 3 fights that showcase Lesnar's abilities.

What makes this an interesting match is that both guys will get tested in ways they have not been tested before. Lesnar will finally face someone he doesn't have 40+ pounds weight advantage. Someone with comparable wrestling back ground (he had trouble with randy for example, even though he had a good 50pounds on him) as well as someone with very, very heavy hands. And shane of course will too be facing a big with very good wrestling and better over all athletism.

All in all the upcoming 5 weeks should be a lot of fun to watch and will determine the future of both weight classes and promotions as Strikeforce tries to establish it as more than just a great regional promotion.

The only question is is this: If Shane KO's Brock in the first round, will Dana White talk about how Fedor is afraid of UFC because of Carwin? :)

UFC 103 - Results Of UFC 103 Card

UFC 103 was an interesting card. On one hand it had some fairly good action, with lots of stoppages and not one boring fight. On the other hand there wasn't really any wars, such as say Couture vs Nogueira at UFC 102. None the less it was a fairly good card!

In the main even Belfort vs Franklin Belfort's hand speed and power was just too much for Rich. belfort won by tko in the first round. Impressive win for Vitor and can set him up with a fight against Anderson Silva. Although he may need to win one more fight int he UFC first. Then again, from UFC's point of view, there are a few fights for Anderson at 185, but he already beat Hendo and Nate who knocked out two possible contenders in Bisping and Maya respectively. As such a fight with an exciting fighter in Vitor would make more sense than a rematch, at least to a casual fan.

Cro Cop lost to Dos Santos by verbal submission in round 3 (Dos Santos landed a punch to the eye and Mirko motioned for the referee to stop the fight.) It would appear that Mirko's prime is in the past and he's not going to ever get a title shot. It's not even so much that he's past it physically, it just seems he's mentally isn't there. Afraid to engage, and let his hands lose. being 35 and a bit slower than he's used to probably doesn't help either.

Paul Daley (who replaced Squick) tko'ed Martin Kampmann, although the stoppage was early. Daley had him dazed and was landing some good punches, but Kampmann wasn't really out of it.

Koscheck tko'd Frank Trigg in the first. And Tyson Griffing beat Hermes Franca by tko in round 2. In preliminary fights Efrain Escudero tko'ed Cole Miller in the first and a veteran Vladimir Matyushenko won a unanimous decision (30-27) against Igor Pokrajac.

All in all it was a good event with a lot of TKOs, though it did lack a back and force fight. It's also kind of sad to witness what appears to be an end to an amazing career in Cro Cop. But such is a life, not everyone can be randy Couture - fighting great fighters and 46 years old.

UFC 103 is just a few days away, and it promises to be a great card with some awesome fights and plenty of action. But perhaps you, like many other people are wondering where to watch a live stream of UFC 103? Well then, wonder no more as I got the answers for you!

The best and most obvious way to watch UFC 103 is of course by ordering the ppv. You get great quality on a large screen, while sitting comfortably in your living room or where ever it is you have your TV. If the price of the ppv is too expansive (around 50$) you can have some friends come over and chip in. Get 4 friends to come over and you are only looking at 10$ to order the ppv, not bad at all.

Another popular alternative is to go to a sports bar and watch it there. For example hooters and some other places show most if not all of the UFCs. So grab a beer and watch UFC 103, not bad for an alternative. The only negative thing is that there will be lots of people there, and as MMA is a fairly new sport, a lot of people have little knowledge of it, as such you run a high chance of hearing some stupid stuff said.

You can also watch UFC103 live stream on a paid or free steaming site. The problem with watching a stream is that the quality is decent at best, can often lag (you get 3 seconds of action and 5 seconds of commentators talking with no change in action on the screen, then it catches up and you get the next 3 seconds.)

Still, if you want to watch UFC103 free, then a stream is a decent choice. You can find a live UFC stream on streaming sites such as justin.tv SportsCast and several other streaming sites. Sometimes you can also find streams (especially paid ones) on other websites, but in a way you need to be lucky to find them, as it can be rather hard (flash websites mostly, so rarely if ever show up in google search)

regardless whcih way you choose, I hope you do watch UFC103 live, as it will be a great event Who knows you might even get to see Cro Cop's patented left high kick!

Watch UFC 103 Franklin vs Belfort - It Will Be Great!

Are you getting ready to watch ufc 103? You should be, because it's goign to be a great card with an awesome main event. Putting an UFC ex middle weight champion Rich Franklin against a former ufc champion in Vitor Belfort.

Both guys like to strike and so this should be an action packed fight. Belfort has some of the quickest hands in MMA and is coming off a brutal knock out of Matt Lindland at Affliction's second event. He is seen by some as a fighter who could beat the raining middle weight champion Anderson Silva.

On the other hand Franklin is at an interesting point in his career - he is a great fighter but cannot beat middle weight champion Anderson Silva (having lost to him twice by brutal tko/ko)And had already lost to light heavy weight champion Lyoto Machida several years ago.

Still Franklin is a great fighter and has a well known name, as such it appears that at this poitn he's just looking for some great fights, be it at middle weight or light heavy weight divisions.

Watch UFC103 Cro Cop vs Franklin - It Will Be An Awesome Fight!

One of the most exciting matches of UFC 103 - Crop Cop vs Dos Santos. Both fighters are strikers so it's guaranteed that there will be lots of action, and someone is going to get knocked out! Aside from that this match also has a lot of relevance to UFC's heavyweight picture.

Mirko Crop Cop - at one time the most feared striker in MMA and a second best fighter in the world (behind Fedor Emileanenko) Is looking to have a second go at UFC (he got KO'ed by Gonzaga and lost a decision to Kongo during his first attempt) and has made it very clear he wants to get UFC's heavy weight title.

And while a win over Dos Santos wouldn't get him a title shot, it would likely put him within one fight of it. A rematch with Nogueira for number one contender is very likely should Cro Cop win this fight.

Dos Santos is looking to add another big name fighter to his win column. With his biggest win being a TKO over Werdum at UFC 90, it is a big step up for him. However a win over Cro Cop would likely put him in the rank of title contenders.

So get ready to watch these two heavy weights battle it out. As one of them tries to make a come back and show the fans that he is still one of the top fighters in MMA and the other is trying to make a name for himself. It's going to be a hell of a fight, and you definitely don't won't to miss it!

Get Ready To Watch UFC 103!

UFC 103 is just two weeks away and I can't wait to watch it! And while there aren't any title fights on the line, UFC 103 features a number of interesting match ups. Plus 3 main fights are pretty much guaranteed to be stand up wars. So if you like seeing guys stand and bang then this is a must see card.

The main event features Rich Franklin vs Vitor Belfort. Rich is coming off of a win against Wanderlei Silva at UFC 99, and is on a 4 fight winning streak. Vitor belfort is coming off of a very impressive win against Matt Lindland that showcased his amazing hand speed (he ko'ed Lindland in something like 10 seconds in the first round)

Then there is Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovich vs Junior Dos Santos. Both are stand up fighters and both are looking for impressive wins as Cro Cop has made it clear he wants to get the ufc belt (and needs a few wins to get a title shot) and Santos is coming off of a tko over Werdum would love to add another win over a name fight. If you are a fan of striking, this fight will not disappoint - you know someone is going to get knocked out!

Another fight that should be a nice slugfest is Mike Swick vs Martin Kampmann. Both guys like to strike so this should be another action packed fight. Add the fights between Josh Koscheck vs Frank Trigg and Tyson Griffin vs Hermes Franca, as well as Efrain Escudero vs Cole Miller and this card looks really good.

So get ready to watch UFC 103 live in two weeks, as it's going to be an action packed card that you don't want to miss!
